Your Claude Max plan includes monthly API credits

Drafted through my n8n + AI pipeline, edited by me.

Claude Max and Team subscribers now have a line item worth checking: Anthropic started granting monthly API credits on October 7, up to $500 a month on Team plans, and most people haven't claimed them yet.

The credits land automatically on eligible plans once you link a Claude Console organization. Max 5x and Max 20x subscribers get them, as do Team plans, including the discounted Team plans for nonprofits and researchers. Free, Pro, and Enterprise plans are not eligible, and if you just signed up, you need seven days on the plan before you can claim anything.

What your API credits actually cover

  • Claude API calls made through the Console or your own code
  • Claude Managed Agents
  • The Claude Agent SDK
  • The Console playground

What it does not cover matters just as much: Claude Code sessions, extra usage inside the Claude chat apps, and Claude Platform access through AWS Bedrock, Google Cloud, or Microsoft Foundry. If your spend is mostly Claude Code, this credit will sit unused.

How much lands in your account

Table of Claude Max and Team plans showing monthly API credit amounts

Monthly creditCovers Claude Code?
Max 5x$100No
Max 20x$200No
Team, Standard seat$20 per seatNo
Team, Premium seat$100 per seatNo
Team credits pool across every seat and cap out at $500 a month, no matter how many seats you add past that point.

Claim it in under five minutes

  1. 1

    Open billing settings

On claude.ai, go to Settings > Billing on a Max plan, or Organization settings > Billing on a Team plan.

  2. 2

    Link a Console organization

In the API credits section, pick the Console organization that should receive the credit and accept the program terms. No payment method required.

  3. 3

Create a key and spend it

The credit shows up under Settings > Billing in the Console as a promotional credit. Generate an API key there and point your first workflow at it.

It does not roll over

Unused credit expires at the end of each billing cycle. There is no carrying a quiet month into a busy one, so it only pays off if something is actually calling the API on a regular basis.

Where this is actually useful for a service business

If you are already paying for Claude Max to draft proposals or review contracts, this is the same subscription quietly funding something else: an HTTP Request node in an n8n workflow that scores inbound leads, drafts review responses, or summarizes intake forms before they hit a human inbox. A Max 5x seat's $100 a month covers a meaningful amount of that kind of traffic before you touch a separate API bill. Team plans add up faster, since the credit pools across seats, so a five-person team on a mix of Standard and Premium seats can clear a couple hundred dollars a month without buying anything extra.

Worth five minutes to check whether your plan already has this sitting unclaimed. If you want help pointing that credit at an actual workflow instead of letting it expire, I'm glad to look at what you're running.
