What ChatGPT Slides means for your proposal decks
Drafted through my n8n + AI pipeline, edited by me.
ChatGPT can now build an entire slide deck inside a chat, and OpenAI switched that feature on for paying teams on October 16.
The feature sits inside Space, the shared workspace OpenAI introduced at its developer conference in September. Until this week Space could hold files and notes. Now it can hold a deck that updates as you keep talking to the model, built in part on technology from Nextslide.ai, a small presentation startup OpenAI bought back in August.
What ChatGPT Slides actually does
Open a chat, point it at an outline, a set of files, or a transcript, and ask for slides. ChatGPT drafts a deck you keep refining in the same thread. Teammates with access to the same Space can open that deck, edit it, and tag the model in a comment to redo a slide, swap a chart, or tighten the wording. When the deck is ready, present straight from ChatGPT or send it out as a PowerPoint or Google Slides file.
Who can use ChatGPT Slides right now
The rollout is narrow on purpose. It only reaches Pro, Business, and Enterprise plans, and it needs Space, which is not on every plan either. Someone paying for Plus at the personal tier does not get it yet, and neither does anyone on the free tier.
Table listing ChatGPT plan tiers against whether each one includes the new Slides feature.
| Slides access | Best fit if you're on it | |
|---|---|---|
| Free | No | Keep using Canva or PowerPoint for now |
| Plus ($20/mo) | No | Not included even on the personal paid plan |
| Pro | Yes | Solo consultants building their own proposals |
| Business | Yes | Small teams sharing a deck inside one Space |
| Enterprise | Yes | Agencies that need admin control over who can edit |
Where this actually helps a service business
- Turn a sales call transcript into a first-draft proposal deck the same afternoon
- Keep one living project-update deck a client can check instead of forwarding a new PDF each week
- Let two people edit the same pitch deck in the same Space instead of emailing a PowerPoint back and forth
- Export the finished deck to PowerPoint or Google Slides for whoever on the client side still wants a file
What to check before you hand this to a client
Space is shared by design
Anyone with access to that workspace can likely open a deck sitting inside it, including draft numbers, client names, and pricing you have not finalized. Before a sales or ops team starts drafting proposals in Space, decide who actually has access to it, the same way you would for a shared drive.
If you are already paying for a ChatGPT plan that includes Space, pulling your next proposal deck together there costs nothing extra to try. Tell me what your deck workflow looks like today and I can help you work out whether it is worth the switch.
